The secrets on parchment
“The first two secrets will be an admonition and a big forewarning, proving to the world that Our Lady appeared in Medjugorje and that the visionaries were telling the truth. The third secret will be an indestructible sign through which many souls will be converted. The other secrets will probably be shocking events that will distress the world and be an invitation to many to convert but to fear nothing”
Christmas of 1982 was a feast of hope and that typical seasonal joy for most of the faithful. But in the life of the visionary, Mirjana Dragičević, a girl of seventeen at the time, new and dramatic changes were taking place: It was to be the last time that she would have daily apparitions of the Blessed Mother.
Exactly a year and a half had passed since her first miraculous meeting with ‘the most beautiful woman' she had ever seen. She had to face the painful truth that the Blessed Mother would now cease visiting her daily. Mirjana was the first out of the six Medjugorje visionaries to experience this. Her sorrow was indescribable. She was depressed for a month. She continuously sought out solitude where she could cry inconsolably. But on the day itself - in that apparition which lasted 45 minutes - something extraordinary happened: Our Lady entrusted the young seer with the last, the tenth secret and left her an “object” which intrigues those who have followed the Medjugorje events closely for the last quarter of a century. To what are we referring?
The indestructible object
The mysterious object, approximately the size of an A4 sheet of paper, is of celestial origin. It is not known of what substance it is made, but Mirjana says that it reminds her of parchment. It is of whitish color and has unusual characteristics: it may be crumpled or folded over, but it cannot in any way, be torn. “It is indestructible”, Mirjana says with a smile and reveals that all ten secrets delivered to her by Our Lady are written on it. But, for the time being, the text written is visible only to her. No one else - even if they were to hold it in their hands - can read the contents.
On several occasions we asked Mirjana to show us this extraordinary object, at least from a distance, but our appeals were not met. She says that once she showed it to a friend and a cousin on the same occasion. Subsequently, Our Lady advised her not to show it any more. |

“It was while I was still living in Sarajevo ” – Mirjana remembers. “One of them saw a text worded like a plea - someone pleading something from someone else - and the other saw a prayer to the Lord. They saw two different things at the same time! It's just as well too, because I would not be able to go anywhere without the parchment otherwise. I would have to hide it all the time, and live in fear that some thieves might take it away.”
But the interesting thing is that, when the time comes for the Medjugorje secrets to be fulfilled, the text from the parchment will be visible to Fr. Petar Ljubičić, the Croatian priest whom Mirjana has chosen for that special mission. In other words, he is going to be the one to reveal the contents of each particular secret to mankind. How is it going to happen?
- “When the time comes for the secrets to be fulfilled”– Mirjana explains – “I'll first tell Father Petar. That will be ten days prior to a particular event. We shall spend seven days in fasting and prayer, and three days prior to the fulfillment of that secret he will announce it to the whole world”.
